Derby is born by the great experience acquired by Fagima with travelling column machining centers. It has been studied in every details, thanks to the most updated design and calculation systems and it the best that can be found nowadays on the market.
Available in 3 or 5 axes version, it distinguish itself thanks to the high stiffness of the structures and for the absence of Y axis deflection (which is typical of swan-neck type machines). In particular in the version with electro spindle, tiling head, built-in rotary table, the versatility and the potentiality of a high performance complete machine are enhanced. The rapid and fast accelerations enable cycle times reductions, above all on big size workpieces. It is available with three different X axis strokes, the 3000 mm version is certainly the most equilibrated one. Designed with a modular Y axis (800 or 1000 mm), it keeps a Z axis stroke of 800 mm (940 mm with head in horizontal position).
The structure is made by a monolithic electrowelded bed (with annexed cast iron table) with high loading capacity without the needs of very complex foundations. The column-holder carriage slides on it, through roller guideways (X,Y and Z axis have this kind of guideways).Two groups are housed on the column: the tool magazine and the exchanging arm. The tool magazine can be supplied with 30 or 45 tools with ISO 40 and HSK63 taper versions, with 40 tools on ISO 50 version.
Upon request, it is possible to supply a larger number of tools in rack type magazine (on the ground) or to realize customized configurations. The column has been studied to guarantee a high rigidity of the spindle-holder head. Thanks to Fagima solution of the front protection, there is a partition of the dry from the wet area (working area). A great care has been taken over the components (of high quality) and the wiring, in order to make it tied, simple and clean.
A Fagima strength point is the customization that is enhanced on Derby: working areas separated according to different phases or cycles, accessories for the 4th, 5th and 6th axis, built-in or not, all this starting from the standard machine!
